Emergency Vehicle Installer / 12-Volt Technician (Part-Time & Full-Time)

We are seeking a skilled 12-Volt Technician with experience in automotive electrical systems, preferably within the public safety, emergency vehicle, or fleet vehicle industry. In this role, you will install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain specialized equipment in emergency response and fleet vehicles, including communications equipment, emergency lighting, sirens, and other vehicle accessories.

The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, able to meet project deadlines, communicates professionally with customers and team members, and accurately completes all required documentation.

Position Details
Part-Time Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 6:30 AM – 2:00 PM
Full-Time Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Enjoy a 4-day work week with Fridays off.
Overtime opportunities are available when business needs require.
Some travel is required for on-site installations and service calls.
Position is based in Dorothy, New Jersey.

Job Description

Responsibilities: 

  • Install and configure public safety equipment: lights, sirens, cages, consoles, partitions, storage solutions, radios, and modems.

  • Conduct installations, de-installations, upgrades, and repairs of automotive electronics following company standards.

  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams and manufacturer instructions accurately.

  • Troubleshoot and repair vehicle systems to ensure safety and performance.

  • Maintain proper service paperwork and documentation of work performed.

  • Interact with customers in a professional, service-oriented manner.

  • Provide basic technical support to clients regarding product functionality.

  • Collaborate with team members to meet deadlines and support larger projects.

Qualifications/ Requirements


  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience installing and servicing 12-volt automotive electrical systems is required.

  • Experience with emergency vehicle, public safety, or fleet vehicle upfitting is preferred.

  • Must provide your own basic hand tools. Specialty tools and shop equipment are provided by the company.

  • Strong diagnostic, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills and the ability to maintain an efficient, clean, and orderly work environment. Organization and attention to detail are essential for success in this role.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to think independently, take initiative, and work with minimal supervision.

  • Dependable, reliable, and driven with a strong work ethic. We are looking for someone who wants to work, takes pride in producing quality workmanship, and contributes to a positive, professional, drama-free workplace.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in completing work orders, documentation, and installation records.

  • Professional communication and customer service skills.

  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record is required.

  • Technical certifications such as EVT, MECP, or manufacturer-specific training are considered an asset.

  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds and perform the physical demands of the position, including bending, kneeling, standing, and working inside vehicles for extended periods.
